Unloading the Pumpkins

Lots and lots of pumpkins for the Pumpkin Patch!

My morning walk with the shepherds was windy and chilly.....53 degrees! Tomorrow promises to be sunny and Landon and I will go out and take landscape pictures for his digital photography class. We need to make another trip out to the apple orchard as all of our apples are gone already!

Pumpkin Patch

Saturday, Landon and I and many others from our boy scout troop worked in the rain to help set up our annual Pumpkin Patch fund raiser. I was very happy when they got those tents up! Then on Sunday, everyone arrived again to help unload a semi full of pumpkins. We have already had some sales even though we weren't open. The pumpkins look great this year. I understand that Ohio has had a bumper crop! It is so windy out today and much cooler. We are having gusts up to 50 miles an hour! I hope to post some patch pictures tomorrow.

Friday

This is an older picture of the dining room. We don't even have these lights anymore. I gave this to my sister years ago when her house was being built. I just like this picture.

It's that time of year to set up the pumpkin patch for boy scouts and unloading pumpkins. That is where I will be this weekend.

It's Thursday Again!

.-.-. .-.-. .-.-. .-.-. .-.-. .-.-. .-.-. .-.-. .-.-. .-.-. .-.-. .-.-. .-.-. .-.

This pic was taken about two years ago. My husband, Landon and I and the two shepherds had gone for a Fall walk in the woods around Otterbein Lake. Many boy scout projects have been going on there and its looking really nice. There are lots of wooded trails and bike paths in the area. I have found a maze of paths off of the bike trail and I haven't been able to explore all of them yet!

Yesterday, I found a note on the door that we are getting a new tree to replace our Locust tree. It's going to be a Tatarian Maple. I can't wait to see our new, little stick! Yes, I am being sarcastic; I still miss our big old Locust tree! The sidewalk has been poured and the area graded. Just waiting now for our new, little tree.

Romancing The Green

I absolutely love this bracelet that I just put in my shop today. I love how the colors and shapes just blended together into a bracelet that truly looks of yesterday!

I enjoy what I do!
I do what I enjoy!

This is the lower, back patio. Painting is still going on but just at a slower speed as my husband has fewer hours to devote to it. He still has second coatings to do and lots of scraping and trim work on the windows. I'm not sure if it will get done as the days seem so much shorter now and cooler weather isn't that far away!

Demolition Day!

Today is demolition day at our house! Here is what happened......

We had insulation added to our attics and all of the outside walls. Apparently, a little too much insulation was blown in from the outside and it caused the wall to buckle in Kyle's room. It didn't look as bad as it looks in these pictures. These pictures were taken after the dry wall guy knocked them out so that he can repair the wall for us. As you can see, lots of loose insulation laying around. I took my pictures from a distance because this room was absolutely dusty! Kyle plans to paint his room when the work is done. It's going from a somewhat desert color to garnet. He will be using gray primer so that he can get it done in two coats! This worked well for the downstairs bathroom which is painted Red Delicious.

In The Garden

We are still harvesting tomatoes and peppers from the garden. There are still lots of green tomatoes. I hope that mother nature holds off and lets them vine ripen. I so love going out to the garden and picking them for dinner that night.
I love

Picking Apples at the Apple Orchard

Here are the boys picking Gala apples on Saturday. Some of the apples were so big that only four fit into a gallon sized food storage bag. To store these apples in the fridge, put them in zip lock food storage bags and mist with cold water and seal. They will stay nice and crisp for quite a while.....just depends on the type of apple.

Reaching Up High for the Perfect Apple!

Must have!

That perfect apple up high!

The second picture was enhanced from the first picture using Photoshop Elements.

Good Neighbor

-••-:¦:-••-:¦:-••-:¦:-••-:¦:-••-:¦:-••-

The boys and I were sitting outside on the smaller, brick patio. I had asked my older son to come out with me earlier as I had just brushed the German Shepherds and I wanted him to see Sammie's coat. Soon after, my youngest son arrived home from school and we were discussing when to go to the apple orchard. We heard the doorbell ring and I went out. Our neighbor across the street had a younger boy with him and said there was an incident with my older son's car. It seems the boy and his friend were walking home from middle school and decided to throw a rock at the big light pole that is in front of our house. It apparently missed and hit my older son's back window on his car. It shattered! It seems the friend that actually hit the car ran off. Since my son only has liability on this older car, our insurance agent recommended we call the police to make a report. Before that, I had taken names down. The police arrived and got our story and the story of the good neighbor. They then went to the boy's houses to get to the bottom of what really happened. The police said they thought it would be taken care of right away with the boy's parents. The father stopped by and someone will be out on Tuesday to take care of replacing the back window and taking care of clean up. My insurance agent lives down the street and said that they were a good family and would take care of things. So there will be just a bit of inconvenience until the car is fixed as my son will have to drive my van to work. Just happy that our neighbor was such a good neighbor.

Apple Picking Time - Gala's are Ready!

This is an older picture of Landon at the apple orchard. We go every year at least two times!
I think the most we went in a year was four. We purchase at least 20 lbs of apples at a time.

We eat them!
We bake them!
We love them!

Landon and I will probably go right after he gets out from school to get some. He asked me last night when we were going to go.

Can't wait!

Can't wait!

RAW Format

I was outside yesterday with my camera and tripod and I looked down and there was Mo-Jo getting ready for a quick nap on the patio. I adjusted the tripod around and just took his picture. I have started taking pictures in the RAW format. It's like having a darkroom on your PC! You can make adjustments on the computer just like you would have made them using your camera. You can make corrections such as tone curve, sharpness, white balance, and creative style just to name a few. It is simply amazing!

Sammie Joins the Pack

We are caring for my sister-in-laws German Shepherd until she can get back on her feet. Here she is (in the middle) joining in to catch a ball that Landon has thrown for them. She is feeling more at home now and has been patrolling the back yard and sometimes leads the pack when letting us know that strangers are around.

Mo-Jo in Motion

I have been working again with my camera on capturing and stopping motion. One must have lots and lots of light for this. Unfortunately, when I took these pics, it was somewhat cloudy. I set my F-Stop at 5.6 and the shutter speed was 1/800. I had to set the ISO higher than I would have liked and was not happy with the noise at this setting. I will continue to experiment, time permitting.

German Shepherds in motion are so very beautiful......powerful and graceful! In the last picture, I captured the stick in the air before it hit the ground. It looks like Mo-Jo's fluffy tail is up to help him balance. It's so very interesting to notice these things when you stop the action!

Vintage Brooch that I added to my shop today.
