Happy Hallowen!

It was a chilly night for Halloween this year but at least it quit raining. Landon carved a cyclops face on our pumpkin for the trick or trick-or-treaters this year. He is with his buds just hanging out. He hasn't actually gone out for candy in quite a few years. He did make a costume though. I would have taken a pic but he didn't have it on when I dropped him off. It's made out of boxes and paint and who knows what? I wonder what I will be missing now? The sky have a beautiful cast of colors before it became dark.

Photography - Break The Rules

•-:¦:-••-:¦:-••-:¦:-••-:¦:-••-:¦:-••-:¦:-••-:¦-•

Landon is working on his experimental shots this week. He will be breaking the photography composition and technical rules. He took a picture of Mo-Jo and I this afternoon using some creative cropping. He performed a great job of capturing the moment.....I this big, furry boy lots! I used his photo and made modifications of mine own in Photoshop Elements. I think he is really going to have fun with this assignment!

Fall Colors Painted by Nature

This is the back, lower patio. The trees and bushes looked glorious yesterday before the rain. It rained last night and many of the leaves have fallen. Landon's spookies are sitting on the wrought iron table that I found at the auction house a few years ago. I love this table!

Trick or Treat night will be this Saturday in Westerville from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. I received my grocery store flyer yesterday and turkeys are now on sale for $.29 a pound! The holidays are not that far away!

Dressage Show

The Otterbein College (here in Westerville) Department of Equine Science hosted an intercollegiate dressage show this weekend. Landon and I attended for a time so that he could take pictures for his event/action photography assignment. Here, he shows a couple of horses warming up for the event. This new center just opened this Fall and is about three minutes from our house by car. Here is one of the links to their site: http://www.otterbein.edu/equine/horses.asp

It was pretty cloudy and cool out and the ground outside was fairly wet. They will be having another event this weekend.

Landon's last assignment in photography this week will be: Break the Rules! It will be interesting to see what he comes up with!

Somewhat of a Silhouette

*.¸(´*•.¸¸.•*´)¸.

Here is somewhat of a silhouette shot of Mo-Jo. I like these kinds of pictures for some reason. This one has just a wee bit of highlights and detail to make it interesting. The blue water background has one of my favorite shades of blue. My favorite colors are blue and purple.

My husband is still working on the house in between working. Today he put up one of the newly painted gutters. We are expecting rain after midnight. Because of the rain, the apple orchard opened up yesterday and today for Fuji and Winesap apples. Landon and I went out to the orchard again yesterday and picked up another 20 lbs. Last night I made apple raisin scones using one of each of these apples......love them!

Action Photo's Cont'd.

Just another action shot of Mo-Jo on the back side of Hoover Dam. He has been retrieving his favorite Frisbee in all of these pics. The Fall colors were gorgeous this weekend but I'm not sure if we are at our peak yet?

I have been trying to list more items in my shop. I listed these two today......

Pumpkins and Apples

Landon finds a pumpkin after we walk all over and I mean all over! Mo-Jo didn't mind the walking and searching! Landon carried it all the way back to the van without putting it down once!

We picked beautiful and delicious Rome apples before finding a pumpkin. They are one of Landon's favorite apples and I have to say that they are absolutely incredible this year. There were no blemishes on the skins and these apples are fantastically huge.....I won't have to peel that many to make a pie!

Action Photography

Yesterday, Landon and I went apple and pumpkin picking. We found the most delicious and very large Rome apples. It was a beautiful sunny Fall day.....crisp and clear! We took Mo-Jo with us so that we could stop on the way home to take some action shots at Hoover Dam for this weeks photo project. Here are a couple of Mo-Jo. Action photography is something that I would like to work on more when I get the time. When we got to the pumpkin patch after the apple orchard, I realized I had lost my lens cap......grrrrr! We went back to the apple orchard after finding a pumpkin (very crowded!) and looked for it but couldn't find it. Oh well, I will have to buy another one. I took one from one of my old SLR's in the meantime. I hope to post some more pictures this week......we had a great time!

A few minutes ago, I listed this gorgeous open back brooch in my shop. Just another glorious piece of the past!

Macro Photography

Nouveau

Beautiful brass filigree earrings for pierced ears. The filigree brass is extremely ornate and detailed. It has been hand oxidized and meticulously polished to bring out glorious highlights! The luscious Swarovski Volcano Rivoli crystal glass stones are displaying the most beautiful, flashing colors! I see a dark rosy pink, purple, dark blue, green, and even copper colors....just depends on the light/angle! This brass is nickel and lead free.

Here is another picture that Landon took for his abstract assignment. It's the same piece of artisan glass that I took a picture of but studio lights were used on this. The colors just seem to pop!

A Whole New World.....Macro Photography

(¯` '•.¸ \ / ¸.•'´¯) Nature's Jewels (¯` '•.¸ \ / ¸.•'´¯)

Whimsical and magical earrings!

-:¦:-•:*'""*:•.-:¦:-•*'""*•-:¦:-•:*'''''*:•-:¦:-

My son's assignment in digital photography this week was object/abstract photography. He had 15 images in each category to do and I really believe he had fun doing this. I decided to do a couple for myself and this is what I came up with. I started out with an artisan hand blown, egg shaped paper weight that I had purchased at our Winter Fair years ago. It was photographed inside using studio lights. It was then enhanced in Photoshop Elements. The second picture is from the first file with the settings changed to negative. Like my title says....it's a whole new world!

We worked at the Pumpkin Patch this weekend (for boy scouts) and sold lots of pumpkins. I learned how to use our new cash register and we now accept credit cards. Everything used to be logged manually! Most of my chocolate chip cookies had sold at the end of our three hour shift. Yea! We will be working again on Wednesday......it is supposed to rain.

Almost The Weekend!

This picture shows you how it looks when you approach the herb garden from one direction at Innis Woods. Landon and I will be working the Pumpkin Patch tomorrow. We have to do some baking tonight for the bake sale. My chocolate chip cookies are the best. They really are! I add a box of chocolate pudding mix to the dough and these cookies come out truly being a chocolate lover's delight! Landon will be working on 30 pictures this week - object/abstract. I am going to introduce him to my macro lens. I'm sure he will love it. One can zoom in and make a whole new world!

I. Something just a bit different!

Another picture that was taken on Friday. The beautiful sky was ever changing and it was a bit windy! What is interesting about this picture is that it was taken from a moving vehicle. The building that you see on the horizon is one of
Westerville's elementary schools.
