King of Hearts

This is my new listing today in my Etsy Shop......King of Hearts!

This is an older picture of my husband with Hannah and Mo-Jo (puppy). She was the best stand-in mommy for Mo-Jo. We really miss her lots! You just had to say her name.....and her tail would thump!

Updated Pics of Mo-Jo & Jazzy

Here are some updated pictures of Mo-Jo and Jazzy taken Monday evening. It was in the 80's that day so the doggies were hot! Today it's in the 70's and overcast. We didn't get much rain but there's a 70% chance of it tomorrow. The lawn is being cut right now. The mower that we share with my husband's sister was not working. My husband had to tear it apart and clean the carburetor. He's already doing a project in the kitchen and he will be replacing the sink in the upstairs bathroom.....it's leaking! Someone gave us a nice sink years ago and that's what is going in there as soon as he can get to it. He's been a busy man! We are so fortunate that he is handy at fixing things!

Enigma - Return To Innocence

I like this song lots! I found this video on YouTube. If you choose to watch it, I think you will enjoy it. The ending is incredible! It's raining here today and will be for three or four more days. Please grass..........grow, grow, grow!

It's Monday!

I added this pretty Czech Button Glass necklace to my Etsy shop today. It also has round, Kreol glass wrapped in filigree. I designed this necklace with Summer in mind....it's just around the corner!

Now what is this picture about? Well, it's a closeup picture of our cast aluminum patio table. It just had some really nice textures and shapes. I couldn't help myself.....I just had to take a picture of it! I found this at an Estate auction a couple of years ago. It really does need painted. It looks Shabby Chic right now!

Under the Patio Umbrella - Sunday Afternoon

I was out on the smaller brick patio that we built a couple of years ago taking pictures. I just had to raise my camera and take a picture of the patio umbrella......interesting light and shapes! It's going to get up to 85 degrees today and its sunny. There is still a good breeze going on and since its not humid it doesn't feel too bad. I am off to clean out the refrigerator and then find Landon and we will work on clearing the larger patio. We need to do some trimming on the bushes too!

Solarized Mo-Jo

Here are some interesting pictures of my male German shepherd Mo-Jo. I was out taking pictures of my flowering crab apple trees the other night and I started playing with the settings on my camera. I chose the solarize setting and played around with it in various programs.

It is going to get up to 85 degrees today. I walked the dogs early again today. It's either that or later at night as it is just too hot for us! Mr. T is doing some repair in the kitchen eating area so we have been eating out on the brick patio. I have to go out and water the grass seed. I don't see anything poking up yet. I don't think I will be making any homemade pizza tonight. Maybe we will cook out again!

Yearly Mammogram Time!

Today I had my yearly mammogram done. Nobody likes having them done but they are so very important. Be sure to check your calendar and see when yours is due!

It is going to get up in the low 80's today! Can you believe it. We had flurries the other night! It is also expected to be in the 80's tomorrow. I am just not ready for it! I took the dogs for a long walk after my mammogram this morning. We we all getting pretty warm by the time we were done. We walked for about an hour exploring a new path. Westerville has many, many bike/walking paths and parks. The above picture is an older one of my Mom that I digitized. She looks so happy in this picture. I am not sure, but it looks like she has on a beautiful silk dress. I think my younger sister really looks like my mom.

Flowering Crab Apple Trees

We have two flowering crab apple trees in the back yard. They are just starting to open their buds. Sometimes, they are so thick that we have the most beautiful, white canopies in our yard. They have a light, fragrant smell also. I am not sure how they are going to look this year.

Loreena McKennitt - The Highwayman (live concert)

Loreena McKennitt - The Highwayman Lyrics
Album: Book of Secrets

Music: Loreena McKennitt
Lyrics: Alfred Noyes, Abridged by Loreena McKennitt

The wind was a torrent of darkness among the gusty trees
The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon the cloudy seas
The road was a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor
And the highwayman came riding, riding, riding,
The highwayman came riding, up to the old inn-door.

He'd a French cocked hat on his forehead, a bunch of lace at his chin,
A coat of claret velvet, and breeches of brown doe-skin;
They fitted with never a wrinkle; his boots were up to the thigh!
And he rode with a jewelled twinkle,
His pistol butts a-twinkle,
His rapier hilt a-twinkle, under the jewelled sky.

Over the cobbles he clattered and clashed in the dark innyard,
And he tapped with his whip on the shutters, but all was locked and barred;
He whistled a tune to the window, and who should be waiting there
But the landlord's black-eyed daughter,
Bess the landlord's daughter,
Plaiting a dark red love-knot into her long black hair.

"One kiss, my bonny sweetheart, I'm after a prize tonight,
But I shall be back with the yellow gold before the morning light;
Yet if they press me sharply, and harry me through the day,
Then look for me by the moonlight, watch for me by the moonlight,
I'll come to thee by the moonlight, though hell shall bar the way.

He rose upright in the stirrups; he scarce could reach her hand
But she loosened her hair in the casement! His face burnt like a brand
As the black cascade of the perfume came tumbling over his breast;
And he kissed its waves in the moonlight,
(Oh, sweet waves in the moonlight!)
He tugged at his rein in the moonlight, and galloped away to the west.

He did not come at the dawning; he did not come at noon,
And out of the tawny sunset, before the rise o' the moon,
When the road was a gypsy's ribbon, looping the purple moor,
A red-coat troop came marching, marching, marching
King George's men came marching, up to the old inn-door.

They said no word to the landlord, they drank his ale instead,
But they gagged his daughter and bound her to the foot of her narrow bed;
Two of them knelt at the casement, with muskets at their side!
there was death at every window, hell at one dark window;
For Bess could see, through the casement,
The road that he would ride.

They had tied her up to attention, with many a sniggering jest;
They had bound a musket beside her, with the barrel beneath her breast!
"now keep good watch!" And they kissed her.
She heard the dead man say
"Look for me by the moonlight, watch for me by the moonlight
I'll come to thee by the moonlight, though hell shall bar the way!"

She twisted her hands behind her, but all the knots held good!
She writhed her hands till her fingers were wet with sweat or blood!
They stretched and strained in the darkness and the hours crawled by like years!
Till, now, on the stroke of midnight, cold, on the stroke of midnight,
The tip of one finger touched it! The trigger at least was hers!

Tlot-tlot! Had they heard it? The horses hoofs ring clear
Tlot-tlot, in the distance! Were they deaf that they did not hear?
Down the ribbon of moonlight, over the brow of the hill,
The highwayman came riding, riding, riding!
The red-coats looked to their priming!
She stood up straight and still!

Tlot in the frosty silence! Tlot, in the echoing night!
Nearer he came and nearer! Her face was like a light!
Her eyes grew wide for a moment! She drew one last deep breath,
Then her finger moved in the moonlight, her musket shattered the moonlight,
Shattered her breast in the moonlight and warned him with her death.

He turned; he spurred to the west; he did not know she stood
bowed, with her head o'er the musket, drenched with her own red blood!
Not till the dawn he heard it; his face grew grey to hear
How Bess, the landlord's daughter, the landlord's black-eyed daughter,
Had watched for her love in the moonlight, and died in the darkness there.

And back, he spurred like a madman, shrieking a curse to the sky
With the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high!
Blood-red were the spurs in the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat,
when they shot him down on the highway, down like a dog on the highway,
And he lay in his blood on the highway, with the bunch of lace at his throat.

Still of a winter's night, they say, when the wind is in the trees,
When the moon is a ghostly galleon, tossed upon the cloudy seas,
When the road is a ribbon of moonlight over the purple moor,
A highwayman comes riding, riding, riding,
A highwayman comes riding, up to the old inn-door.

My Father's Mother

This is my father's mother.....Mary. I don't know how old that she was when this was taken. She was a country girl raised in southern Ohio......Beaver, Jackson, Ohio.

When my brother was born premature and with a hernia, I had chicken pox. I stayed with my grandma and grandpa about a month so that they could bring baby David home and not expose him to my illness. David and I are only eleven months apart in age. I took my first steps to my grandparents. My grandma made the best deserts. I still remember her fabulous Boston Cream pies! I remember too, that she drank her coffee black. She always found the best birthday cards. I remember one with whimsical fairies and pink glitter on it! Even though later in life she became blind, she could still find the most perfect birthday gift. I loved staying with her on the weekends when I became older.

Note: I will be listing a pair of earrings tomorrow that will go with this necklace.

Jazzy and Mo-Jo - Really Best Buds!

I was able to go and grab my camera and get this picture. Jazzy was laying her head on Mo-Jo's arm. They are really best buds! It was cooler here today with just a bit of drizzle. A little bit of grass seeding was done on the front lawn. My oldest cooked dinner. It was orange roughy fish in a special sauce served over lettuce and topped with sliced almonds. It had fresh lemon and garlic. I usually don't like fish that much but this was extremely delicious! Plus, I always love it when someone else cooks!

We love the new roof! The color is called Shakewood.
It's a much better match and looks more natural!

Little KAT

Here is a picture of me when I was little. I remember that the color of the little table was yellow. The dress that I had on was white and trimmed in red velvet. I remember loving it so much that when I grew out of it my mother found one just like it in a bigger size for me!

In Memory of My Father

Lawrence George

I found an older picture of my dad that were taken when he was in the navy. My dad had the most gorgeous, clear blue eyes that I have ever seen. I think that you can tell that they were a lighter color even though its a black and white picture. I will never forget the story that he told us about the time that he was out to sea. My dad spotted a plane in the air before the radar did. After that, my poor dad got to be a lookout for quite some time! My dad had blond hair. My mother had brown hair and brown eyes. My two sisters and I have brown hair and eyes like my mom. My two brothers have blue eyes and blond hair just like my dad.

New Roof

The roofers started today on the upper right roof. Our house is a four level split. Ohio only had a 30% chance of rain but it has drizzled all day. It is still going on right now! The men that are doing are roof are also firemen so they are working at their other jobs tomorrow. They will be back on Friday and will finish no later than Saturday. We have a lovely, beat up dumpster sitting in our driveway for the old shingles. I grabbed a parking space in the driveway after taking Landon over to his friends. He is on Spring break this week. Doesn't look like Spring. My weeping cherry tree that you see in my pictures has not bloomed yet. It has delicate pink flowers that cascade down and looks incredible. We have two older flowering crab apple trees in the back yard that only look good when they flower. You can stand under their canopy when in bloom and smell their faint, sweet scent. When the blooms start to fall it almost looks like its snowing!

One of My Favorite Groups - Enya (Orinoco Flow)

Rose Cardin

Rose Cardin by Pierre Cardin is a chypre floral fragrance for women. Top notes are aldehydes, coriander, fruity notes, Brazilian rosewood and cardamom; middle notes are carnation, jasmine, ylang-ylang, lily-of-the-valley and rose; base notes are sandalwood, amber, patchouli, musk, vetiver and incense.

This is one of my favorite perfumes but they don't make it anymore. I actually like this fragrance best in a lotion. This is fairly strong and I only wear it in the evenings. Isn't this a pretty bottle!

Well, the shingles were sent up to the roof on a conveyor belt today and the job will start tomorrow after the rain ends......hopefully! Tear off on Wednesday, new shingles on Friday if all goes well! I hope we like that color that we picked out!

Day After Easter

Well, today was a busy day getting back into the swing of things. I did not cook though! There are plenty of leftovers in the fridge. Our roof is being replaced this week due to the damage back in September. We picked out the shingles yesterday and the roofer and said it was a go on Wednesday after the rain stops. Two layers of shingles will have to be torn off so we will have a big dumpster in our driveway for a few days. Everyone will have to find another spot for their cars. Landon and I went to the store to buy Easter candy at 50% off. He doesn't think that we bought enough! Well, tonight is scout meeting night and have to go and pick up my scout. Our Easter was sunny and cool. Today, it is in the 40's and raining! My doggies are asking for attention!

Easter Tradition

Since I make most things from scratch (handmade!), I started on my Potato Refrigerator Rolls tonight. This dough can be kept in the refrigerator for up to five days. I got hooked on these when I started dating my husband. His mother, Eva Jane made them for us. They are sweet, flaky, delicious, and out of this world! I have since made them every year at Christmas time, New Year's, and Easter. I always smile and think of Eva Jane while making them!

And part of the tradition is to put this dough in the blue bowl that was her mother's. This bowl has other pieces that match.....pitcher, tea pot, creamer, and a sugar bowl. They are Hall's Kitchenware and were made in the 1940's in the U.S.A. This pattern is called Rose Parade.

Mikey - Still Going Strong at 17!

Here is Mikey. He will be 17 years old next month. He has really mellowed out now that he is older. Cats live so much longer than dogs on average. I believe the oldest cat known lived to the age of 36. Our first pair of German Shepherds made it to 11 years old. So, Mikey is going on his second set of shepherds. He only weighs about 12 pounds but my German Shepherds do respect him! In my household, cat and dogs do get along!

Brass Crown Set Kreol Glass Jewel Earrings

♥Kreol Jewels♥

Pair of earrings for pierced ears. This brass is nickel and lead free.

Note: Very reflective stones and they kept picking up my patio umbrella image. They are smooth and domed on the top and come to a slight point on the back. This glass is totally fascinating to me and contrasts so very nicely with the hand oxidized brass!

On a personal note: Walked the dogs at Towers Park today for our daily walk. I stuffed my cell phone, keys, driver's license, and doggie waste bags in my pockets. I like to travel light! When I got home, I couldn't find my driver's license. Oh no! I drove back to the park and found it right away!
Lesson learned! Do not put more than one thing in a pocket! I had put my keys in the same pocket as the license and when I took them out, my license fell out and I didn't notice!
